Invisalign for Adults
Invisalign includes a set of clear aligners or plastic trays that are changed out every two weeks to gradually straighten the teeth. These are comfortably fitting custom trays that are fabricated using advanced 3D imaging.
Invisalign Teen
Invisalign Teen works with custom clear aligners just like adult Invisalign. However, this version is equipped with a special feature that allows your orthodontist to know exactly how often you are wearing your aligners (a valued tool for active and less responsible teens). On Invisalign Teen aligners, you’ll notice a small blue dot on the back. The color of the dot gradually changes from blue to clear or white the more often it is kept in your mouth. Remember that in order for Invisalign to be effective, the trays must be worn about 22 hours out of the day and only removed for eating, brushing, or flossing. In addition to the “blue dot” feature, Invisalign Teen typically comes with more aligner trays to accommodate for the likelihood that one will get lost or damaged.
In terms of the effectiveness of treatment, Invisalign and Invisalign Teen are equals. Both models are made out of the same comfortable and durable plastic.
