If your personal dental insurance has orthodontic treatment coverage, you will have reduced out-of-pocket costs. Insurance policy coverage varies and most insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that differs from your regular dental insurance coverage. Usually, orthodontic policies cover approximately 50% of the total treatment cost, up to a determined lifetime maximum. Insurance policies offer several different types of arrangements to their clients regarding orthodontic coverage. It is best for you to contact your insurance company prior to beginning treatment so that you are aware of your total benefit amount and what amount you will be required to pay.
